Ink choice is one of the biggest factors in how a piece looks once it has healed. The same design can read very differently six months on depending on the ink used. Here we compare the main brands in our tattoo inks range and give practical advice on bottle sizes and storage.

What should guide the choice?

Three questions come before brand preference:

  • What style do you work? Traditional work calls for highly saturated, opaque inks; realism depends more on a well-graded grey wash set.
  • How much do you use? Buy your core black in volume and accent colours in small bottles — it keeps them fresh and lowers cost.
  • What consistency do you prefer? Fluid inks move fast with a magnum over large areas; thicker inks sit more controlled in line work.

Radiant Colors

Intenze

Dynamic Color

Soulway Ink

Bottle size: 1/2 oz or 4 oz?

Small bottles (1/2 oz, 1 oz) suit colours you reach for rarely — you finish them before they degrade. For core black, white and your two or three most-used colours, 4 oz and up brings unit cost down noticeably. Use the Oz filter on the category page to browse by volume.

Storage and freshness

  • Keep bottles on a cool shelf out of direct sunlight.
  • Shake thoroughly before every use — pigment settles.
  • Always decant into a cap; never return leftover ink to the bottle.
  • Respect the manufacturer's stated period-after-opening.
