Taksim and the streets around it hold the densest concentration of tattoo studios in Istanbul, which makes resupply fast for the artists working there. For everyone else in Türkiye, planning matters far more. This article sets out a supply routine that works at any studio size.

Measure your consumption first

Most studios order on instinct and end up either overstocked or short on an appointment day. One month of notes is enough: how many of each needle configuration, how many ml of each ink, how many pairs of gloves. A single month of data will carry a year of planning.

Split your items into three groups

  • Must never run out: gloves, barrier film, ink caps, single-use towels, sharps containers, your core black and your two most-used needle configurations. Hold safety stock on these.
  • Regular but planned: accent colours, other needle configurations, transfer paper, stencil solution.
  • Bought rarely: machines, power supplies, pedals, spare parts. Holding a backup here is what stops a breakdown from cancelling a session.

Track expiry on sterile goods

Cartridges, sterile grips and disposable tips all carry expiry dates. Bulk buying lowers cost, but expired stock costs you both money and confidence. Shelve by date — nearest expiry at the front. That one habit noticeably cuts waste.

If you work outside Istanbul

Treat shipping time as part of the plan. A practical rule: safety stock should cover at least twice your delivery time. If a courier takes two days, keeping four days of consumption on hand closes most of the risk.

Try to reduce order frequency too. One consolidated monthly order beats weekly small ones on both shipping cost and time — as long as you keep checking dates on sterile goods.

For newly opened studios

On first setup, starting with a tattoo machine kit rather than assembling machine, power supply and pedal separately lowers both cost and the risk of incompatibility. On consumables, buying modest quantities of a few items in the first month tells you what your real consumption looks like.
